General Purpose Structures
Whompahs My first building project is a Whompah terminal. Whompahs are teleprt booths that allow rapid travel around the planet. They're iconic landmarks and will ensure that the setting could be nowhere other than Rubi-Ka. I've simplified the design of course but kept the overall look. I've also decided to model mine with the doors open to help explain their function.
Here's the first Whompah in Omni-Tek grey. The tower is separate.
Here's the second in Clan sand tones. It's the same tower, I only made one.
Both Whompahs can connect to the same tower.
A horrible flash photo so you can see the destinations inside the Whompahs. They're easier to see in normal light with the naked eye.
The Subway
The Whompahs superseded the old subway system which now lies in ruins beneath the surface of Rubi-Ka. However, entrances to the abandoned subway can be found in most cities. Venturing down to explore the tunnels and rooms can be hazardous. Bazaar
Here's the Bazaar. Most of the clutter is from Fenris with stall holders from Black Hat Miniatures and Lead Adventure Miniatures. I plan to use this for any trading area regardless of which faction controls the location. Omni -Tek
Omni -Tek buildings are more sci fi and come in several styles. I've settled on a design I'm happy with that combines ease of construction with the right aesthetic feel. These most closely resemble some of the buildings at Harry's outpost if you want an in-game reference. I'm waiting on some laser cut doors for these which are coming from Demo's Laser Cut Designs in the States. Given the time of year (Christmas) they could take some time to arrive. Of course these buildings got pushed to the back of the queue as things progressed. None-the-less, with some design changes, here they are.
In situ as an Omni-Tek outpost.
These Omni-Tek buildings are going to be modular pieces to allow me to assemble some fairly dense urban areas.
The set will comprise of four platforms which will be open underneath and four connecting walkways that will be solid. These, along with a couple of access ramps, will form raised areas against which the actual buildings can be placed. The buildings will be of the featureless, monolithic type so beloved of Omn-Tek. There will be four basic buildings and two taller towers. To add some clutter there will be some walling, some billboards of different types and some trees. Here are a couple of platforms and two basic buildings with a miniature for scale to give some idea of the finished setting: Everything will be lighted with leds. The platforms will spill light from underneath their floors and the buildings will have lit windows. I'm planning to use a combination of blue and green lights to mirror the feel of Rome.

I took one of my characters around some of the Omni settlements on Rubi-Ka to grab some screenshots of the look I'm after. I can't reproduce the upper layer with all the lights because buildings that tall would interfere with play so I'm going for the look of the lower section but with some of the illumination brought into it.
As long as the three levels of 'ground', 'walkways' and 'roofs' are maintained the setting will have the right feel. So here we are after a couple of shades of Omni-Tek grey and some coloured acetate added to the windows. Here's the finished city section.
Here's my Omni-Tek HQ building that will be added to the city layout with a colour changing star atop it.
These are the video screens I've made out of digital photo frames. Here are the front and back views of the two scenery pieces.
Clan
The Clans have quite a few styles of buildings to choose from. I want a set that will prove versatile in the future so I'm going for more of a Newland look which is actually a Neutral city but has buildings that crop up in both Clan and Omni-Tek areas. Here's my first pair of buildings. The resin doors are from Scotia Grendel and the windows and vents are from Antenociti's Workshop.
I've designed these buildings to cover all their base. Because my Clan areas are going to utilise the tessellating stonework tiles that I got the nice people at Warbases to make for me a building that doesn't have a border of ground around it can be used on or off the tiles and is far more versatile. I plan to have a set of eight buildings and two towers to start with. Here's a tower:
The first of the next group with a different door design. The wind turbines and the windows are from Mad Mecha Guy.
Deciding that having two small buildings the same was a bit boring I added an annex onto one of them.
Here are the Clan/Neutral buildings set up. I've added a raised area to give some variety along with some walkways. During play I'll add the Bazaar to this layout and group the buildings together more. For this photo set I wanted to concentrate on the buildings I'd just finished so I left out the Bazaar.
Neutral
Scattered around Rubi-Ka are several small settlements comprising groups of rundown ramshackle buildings and shacks. These areas are home to all kinds of mutants, criminals and other undesirables. Here are the outlying buildings. The resin doors and windows are from Ramshackle Games, Fenris Games and Antenocitis Workshop. The pipes are from an Urban War chemical plant set and the wooden bits are the left overs from the laser cut terrain that's shown elsewhere.
The wind pump and water wheel are from Blotz. Also away from civilisation, dotted about the vast deserts of Rubi-Ka, are Cyborg Barracks where the enigmatic creatures congregate for defence and security.
This Cyborg base is cobbled together from some Dust Nissen huts, a Micro Art generator, some Games Workshop craters and a couple of Wargame-Model-Mods MDF buildings. This is the Green Robot, my Rubi-Ka night club. It's a way for me to get some music and ambient sounds on to my tabletop. The Android model is a Bluetooth speaker through which I can play my Anarchy Online soundtracks, other music or sound effects from my iPad.
Bronto Burger stalls are scattered all over Rubi-Ka offering a wide selection of meaty snacks to the inhabitants. Most of the Brontos are farmed now but some still roam free in the wild.
The Monorail
here isn't a monorail in the online version of Rubi-Ka but there will be in my version because I've always wanted one. This one came along at just the right time, it's made by the Mad Mecha Guy and it's exactly what I was looking for. Here it is assembled and waiting for some paint. I have about 6ft of track (straight and curved), a two car train with an engine car and a passenger car and an elevated station. Here's the completed monorail. I painted it gunmetal and green like the subway cars and added a good dose of Omni grey for good measure.

I've made a raised walkway. It can be used as a straight piece for pedestrians, ground vehicles or a train or just for pedestrians with the optional corner piece.
Details of the construction can be found here:
